Shakira and Piqué appear in Barcelona court over visitation rights
Shakira and Gerard Piqué appeared in a Barcelona court on Tuesday to review the visitation arrangements for their two sons, Milan and Sasha. The legal proceeding seeks to modify the custody agreement established in 2022.
The primary dispute concerns the logistics of travel between Miami, where the children reside with Shakira, and Barcelona, where Piqué lives. Shakira’s legal team has proposed that during short holiday periods, Piqué should travel to Miami rather than requiring the children to make frequent transatlantic flights.
Representatives for the singer stated that the goal is not to reduce the time the children spend with their father, but to ensure the travel burden is shared. They argued that reducing short-term international trips would protect the children’s “emotional, physical and academic wellbeing” by minimizing jet lag and maintaining their school and social routines.
The hearing took place at the Ciutat de la Justícia following failed private negotiations between the two parties. Both individuals attended the court separately.
