Shakira announces 12-night Madrid residency celebrating Latin culture

Colombian singer Shakira is launching a 12-concert residency in Madrid as part of her ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour’. Beyond the musical performances, the artist is presenting the residency as a celebration of ‘latinidad’ (Latinity) rather than just ‘hispanidad’ (Hispanicity), arguing that the latter term is insufficient to represent the diversity of the region, including non-Spanish speaking nations like Brazil.

Shakira described Madrid as a space where the Latin community is an integral part of daily life, fostering cultural exchanges. She intends to use the residency to combat the isolation of the digital age through physical connection, music, and dance. The project includes ‘Parque Macondo’, a cultural proposal inspired by the literary universe of Gabriel García Márquez, which will feature music, literature, gastronomy, dance, fashion, cinema, and art.

The residency is expected to host over 50,000 attendees per night and aims to showcase more than 100 artists, turning the stage into a multifaceted celebration of Latin American identity.
