Shakira to debut FIFA World Cup 2026 opening anthem 'Dai Dai' in Mexico City
FIFA announced that Colombian pop star Shakira will perform the official 2026 World Cup song “Dai Dai” live at the opening ceremony in Mexico City on 11 June, accompanied by Nigerian singer Burna Boy. The 90‑minute pre‑match show will precede the opening match between Mexico and South Africa and will also feature Latin artists such as Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs and Alejandro Fernández.
“Dai Dai” replaces Shakira’s 2010 hit “Waka Waka” as the tournament’s anthem, with lyrics that encourage confidence and celebration. The song references football legends Pelé, Maradona, Messi and Mbappé and mentions major football nations. German media also highlighted additional German‑language tracks that will be part of the World Cup soundtrack.
