Shakira travels to Colombia to support father William Mebarak

Colombian singer Shakira has traveled to her hometown of Barranquilla to be with her 95-year-old father, William Mebarak, amid concerns regarding his health.

While initial reports from Telemundo suggested Mebarak had been admitted to a local clinic following a health setback, sources close to the family have clarified to La FM and Infobae Colombia that he is not hospitalized. Instead, he is receiving medical treatment at his home, accompanied by family members and a team of healthcare professionals.

Local footage captured the artist walking alongside her father in northern Barranquilla. Mebarak was observed using a wheelchair and was assisted by three nursing professionals. Neither Shakira nor her family has released an official medical statement regarding his specific condition.

Mebarak has faced several health challenges in recent years, including a head injury from a fall in 2022, surgery for hydrocephalus in 2023, and a hospitalization for pneumonia in June 2024.
