Shakira readies World Cup 2026 final show with Spanish 'Dai Dai' release and Messi tribute

Colombian singer Shakira issued a Spanish version of the official FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem “Dai Dai,” a collaboration with Nigerian artist Burna Boy, just days before the tournament’s final. She shared the track on Instagram, quoting, “En el 11 contra 11 cada cual en su papel, aquí no se juzga a nadie cuando se deja la piel.”

Shakira will headline the historic halftime show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on 19 July, performing alongside artists such as Madonna, BTS, Justin Bieber, and Burna Boy. The production, directed by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and featuring the Ghetto Kids from Uganda, also includes the U.S. national anthem by Jennifer Hudson.

After Argentina advanced to the final, Shakira posted an Instagram story praising Lionel Messi’s discipline and noting that his wife Antonela Roccuzzo gives him strength and inspiration. The message went viral and highlighted her long‑standing connection to football, dating back to her 2010 World Cup hit “Waka Waka.”

Other Colombian figures tied to the event include producer Julio Correal, who is helping coordinate parts of the spectacle, and former partner Gerard Piqué, whose presence with new partner Clara Chía in New York has been reported amid speculation about attending the match.
