Shakira's 'Dai Dai' Hits Record Billboard Hot 100 Peak, Near UK Chart #1
Colombian singer Shakira, together with Nigerian artist Burna Boy, saw their World Cup anthem “Dai Dai” climb to No. 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100, the highest placement ever for a FIFA World Cup song. The track surpassed Shakira’s own 2010 record with “Waka Waka” (which peaked at No. 38) and also topped the Billboard Global 200, marking the first World Cup official to do so since the chart’s inception in 2020.
In the United Kingdom, the song is leading the race for the top spot on the Official Charts. It trails the current leader “Rein Me In” by a slim margin, with sales, downloads and streams in the final days set to decide the outcome. Fellow artist Ed Sheeran, a co‑writer of “Dai Dai,” publicly urged fans to push the track to #1, adding to the momentum behind Shakira’s push for her first UK number‑one in nearly two decades.
