Shakira's 'Dai Dai' named best World Cup anthem by Billboard
Billboard hosted an online poll from June 1 to June 10 allowing fans to vote for the best official FIFA World Cup song released since 1990. The survey, published in early June, named Shakira’s 2026 World Cup track “Dai Dai,” featuring Nigerian artist Burna Boy, as the winner with 31.28 % of the vote. The song, released on May 14, beat Shakira’s own 2010 hit “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” (26.65 %) and Ricky Martin’s 1998 anthem “La copa de la vida” (24.73 %). Other entries such as Jennifer Lopez’s “We Are One (Ole Ola)” and Il Divo’s “The Time of Our Lives” received less than 10 % each. The poll highlighted Shakira’s continued prominence in World Cup music, with two of her songs now occupying the top two spots in the ranking.
Billboard did not disclose the total number of participants, but the results underscore the global appeal of the Afro‑beat, dance‑pop blend of “Dai Dai,” which pays tribute to football legends and reflects the multicultural spirit of the upcoming 2026 tournament.
