Shakira's 'Dai Dai' Hits 100 Million Views Ahead of World Cup 2026 Opening
Colombian singer Shakira and Nigerian artist Burna Boy's official FIFA World Cup 2026 song “Dai Dai” surpassed 100 million YouTube views before the tournament began, making it the most‑watched World Cup video to date. The multilingual track, released in May, features lyrics in English, Spanish, Italian, French and Japanese and includes cameo appearances by football stars Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland in its music video.
On 12 June, Shakira performed “Dai Dai” at the opening ceremony in Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca before a crowd of more than 80,000 fans. The spectacle also featured Andrea Bocelli, Salma Hayek and Mexican acts such as Maná and Los Ángeles Azules. Shakira is slated to return for the halftime show of the final on 19 July at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, sharing the stage with Madonna and BTS.
The song’s streaming success reinforces Shakira’s long‑standing association with FIFA tournaments, following earlier hits “Waka Waka” (2010) and “La La La” (2014). The record comes as the World Cup expands to 48 teams across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
