Shakti Kapoor: The career journey of the Bollywood veteran

Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor, born Sunil Sikanderlal Kapoor on September 3, 1952, in Delhi, is being recognized for his extensive career in Indian cinema. After studying at Kirori Mal College and the Film and Television Institute of India, he transitioned from small roles to major prominence.

His career breakthrough came when actor Sunil Dutt recommended he change his screen name to Shakti Kapoor for the film ‘Rocky’, which marked Sanjay Dutt’s debut. While initially known for villainous roles, Kapoor successfully transitioned into comedy during the 1980s and 1990s. He is widely celebrated for iconic characters such as ‘Crime Master Gogo’ in ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ and won a Filmfare Best Comedian Award for his role in ‘Raja Babu’.

Over a career spanning more than 700 films, he has worked alongside notable actors like Govinda and Kader Khan. In his personal life, he is married to actress Shivangi Kolhapure, and they have two children, Siddhant and Shraddha Kapoor.
