Shalom Saginer, 4, drowns in Mexico during family vacation

Four families in the Haredi community experienced tragedies within a single 24-hour period involving the deaths of children and adolescents in separate accidents.

In San José del Cabo, Mexico, 4-year-old Shalom Saginer, a resident of Jerusalem and grandson of Rabbi Shalom Arush, drowned in a hotel pool during a family vacation. Local emergency teams performed prolonged resuscitation efforts, but he was pronounced dead. Following interventions by the ZAKA international unit, local authorities agreed not to perform an autopsy, and the body was released for transport to Israel.

In Israel, two other fatalities occurred: 5-year-old Bitzalel David Giler died in Lod after being left in a hot vehicle for approximately two hours, and 12-year-old Elchanan Karni from Modi'in Illit drowned in the Jordan River after falling from a boat. Additionally, 16-year-old Yonatan Klimian died following a fall from a cliff at Qastel Cave.
