Shamli police kill two suspects in Ankit Baliyan murder case

Two suspected shooters involved in the murder of Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankit Baliyan were killed during a police encounter in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday. The suspects, identified as Sumit, 24, and Mohit, 22, were both residents of Sonipat, Haryana, and carried a reward of Rs 50,000 each.

The encounter occurred during a joint operation by the Shamli Police and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF). According to officials, the suspects opened fire on police personnel during a vehicle-checking operation, leading to retaliatory firing. Two police constables were injured in the exchange. The suspects died while receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Ankit Baliyan was shot dead on August 26 outside a gym in Shamli. Investigations revealed that four assailants on two motorcycles were involved in the attack. Police have identified six individuals linked to the crime, including four shooters and two people who allegedly conducted reconnaissance. The Gogi gang has claimed responsibility for the killing via social media.

Authorities have recovered weapons, including pistols and ammunition, from the encounter site. While the two suspects are dead, police are continuing their search for the remaining two shooters and the mastermind behind the conspiracy.
