Shane Edward Hunt sentenced for violent bus assault

Shane Edward Hunt, 53, has been sentenced in the Wagga Wagga Local Court following a violent brawl on a bus in front of schoolchildren. Hunt pleaded guilty to charges of affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and contravening an apprehended violence order.

The incident occurred when a passenger approached Hunt from behind and attempted to choke him with a bag strap. In response, Hunt headbutted the victim multiple times, eventually delivering nine headbutts while the victim was on the floor. The victim sustained heavy bleeding from cuts to his forehead, face, and forearm. Hunt was sentenced following his appearance via video link from the Junee Correctional Centre.
