Shane Gillis faces backlash after controversial SNL monologue

Comedian Shane Gillis faced significant backlash following his hosting appearance on Saturday Night Live on October 10. During his monologue, Gillis made controversial remarks regarding women's gym attire, using derogatory language to describe their clothing. This prompted a sharp rebuke from actor Dan Levy, who stated on Instagram that such comments are misogynistic and that men must stand up against the objectification of women.

In addition to the monologue controversy, Gillis accidentally used an expletive during a Dr. Seuss-themed sketch titled ‘Green Eggs and Ham,’ an error he acknowledged and apologized for during the show's closing moments. The episode also featured musical guest Rosalía, who performed songs from her album ‘Lux,’ including ‘Reliquia,’ performed en pointe, and ‘Magnolias,’ performed under artificial rain.

Gillis’s return to the show follows a previous dismissal from the SNL cast in 2019 due to past controversial remarks. His recent hosting stint has sparked renewed debate regarding the boundaries of comedy and the platforming of controversial figures on national television.
