Shane Richie pleads not guilty to drink-driving charges
Actor Shane Richie, known for his role as Alfie Moon in EastEnders, has pleaded not guilty to drink-driving charges. He appeared via video link at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday under his real name, Shane Roche.
The charges stem from an incident on July 29 in Harlow, Essex, where Richie is accused of driving a white Hyundai while over the legal alcohol limit. Prosecutors state that a breath test at Harlow police station recorded 65 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, nearly double the legal limit of 35 micrograms.
Deputy District Judge Christopher Maynard granted Richie bail until November 17, 2027, at which time he is scheduled to stand trial at the same court. Richie’s legal representative stated that the actor will not be commenting while criminal proceedings are active.
