Shane Sweetnam wins $500,000 Grand Prix in Toronto

Shane Sweetnam and Coriaan Van Klapscheut Z won the $500,000 Kubota Grand Prix CSI 5* in Toronto, marking the first Grand Prix of Major League Show Jumping Season 6. The competition featured 30 combinations navigating a 1.60m course designed by Guilherme Jorge.

After a selective first round where Ilan Bluman and Acajou provided the initial clear, Sweetnam and Coriaan Van Klapscheut Z also jumped clear to force a three-horse jump-off. In the final round, Sweetnam stopped the clock at 39.08 seconds to secure the victory.

American rider Kent Farrington and Descartes SR finished in second place after a rail fell at the penultimate fence during the jump-off. This marked Farrington’s third consecutive runner-up finish in the Toronto Grand Prix.
