Shane Walsh to miss remainder of season following surgery

Galway and Kilmacud Crokes forward Shane Walsh is set to miss the remainder of the year following a recent surgical procedure. The 2022 All-Star is not expected to return to action until after Christmas.

Walsh’s absence comes at a critical time for Kilmacud Crokes as they prepare for the knockout stages of the Dublin senior football championship. The club recently secured a quarter-final berth after a 1-19 to 1-14 victory over Ballinteer St John’s, a result that moved them to the top of Group 2. They are scheduled to face Castleknock in the quarter-finals.

Kilmacud Crokes manager David Nestor noted that while Walsh is attending training sessions to contribute to the team’s style of play and tactical implementation, he cannot be physically involved in matches. Walsh has dealt with various injuries in recent seasons, including a back procedure that sidelined him during the Connacht championship.
