Shane Williams, former Vybz Kartel co-accused, killed in Portmore police shooting

Shane “Gaza Tussan” Williams, a 37-year-old dancehall artist and former co-accused in the Vybz Kartel murder trial, was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with police in Cumberland, Portmore, on Saturday.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force confirmed the shooting, which occurred around 3:45 am. During the incident, police reported seizing a .38 revolver and several .38 cartridges. Williams had previously been identified by St Catherine South police as a person of interest in 2023.

Williams gained national prominence as one of the men charged in connection with the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. While dancehall star Vybz Kartel was initially convicted in that case, Williams was found not guilty by a jury in 2014. The incident has been reported to the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau.
