Shanghai Cooperation Organisation reaffirms support for Iran's sovereignty
At the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Kyrgyzstan, member states issued a joint statement reaffirming their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran. The declaration expressed deep concern regarding developments in the Middle East and called for the resolution of regional tensions exclusively through political and diplomatic channels.
In the final communique, SCO members condemned military attacks against Iran that resulted in civilian casualties. The organization also expressed condolences to the Iranian people following the martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei. Regarding regional stability, the member states emphasized that a just solution to the Palestinian issue is the only way to ensure peace in the Middle East.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described his participation in the summit and subsequent bilateral meetings as highly productive. He reported conducting discussions with the leaders of Russia, India, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Pakistan. Pezeshkian noted that the meetings focused on expanding economic, social, and political relations, as well as addressing U.S. aggression against Iran.
