Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit to be held in Bishkek
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will hold its annual summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from August 31 to September 1, marking the 25th anniversary of the organization's establishment.
Kyrgyzstan's Foreign Minister, Jeenbek Kurubaev, stated that the summit aims to strengthen mutual trust, good-neighborliness, and multilateral cooperation among member states. He described the upcoming meeting as a significant milestone in the SCO's history of development and regional stability.
SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev noted that during Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship, priority areas include enhancing regional stability, expanding economic cooperation, improving transport connectivity, accelerating digital transformation, and promoting cultural exchanges. Over its 25-year history, the SCO has evolved from a focus on regional security into a comprehensive platform covering trade, finance, digital development, and cultural exchange.
