Shanghai professional saves 50,000 NDT to fund global travel

A product development professional in Shanghai, known as Ivy, has resigned from her job after five years to pursue a life of global travel. To fund her transition, she engaged in six months of extreme saving, accumulating 50,000 NDT (approximately 194 million VND).

During this period, Ivy significantly reduced her living expenses by sharing a 40m2 apartment with seven strangers and strictly limiting her food costs, such as eating only the cheapest steamed buns for breakfast. She also minimized social activities and prepared meals at home to maximize savings.

Following her resignation, Ivy began her journey by traveling from Shanghai to the Khorgos border crossing, eventually reaching Almaty, Kazakhstan. Her planned itinerary includes traveling through Uzbekistan, Armenia, Georgia, and Turkey.
