Shanghai to host major powerboat racing and international marina conference

Shanghai is preparing to host major maritime and powerboat racing events, reflecting China’s growing focus on leisure yacht and marina infrastructure. The city will host the third round of the 2026 UIM Formula 1 championship in the Baoshan district. The racing schedule includes free practice, qualifications, sprint races, and a main Grand Prix event featuring hydroplanes capable of speeds exceeding 200 kilometres per hour.

Additionally, the 2027 ICOMIA World Marinas Conference (IWMC2027) is scheduled to take place in Shanghai from March 30 to April 2. This marks the first time the conference has been held in mainland China. The selection of Shanghai aligns with Chinese national economic priorities to accelerate service consumption through marina upgrades and regulatory reforms in the yacht and cruise sectors.
