Shania Twain releases autobiographical album “Little Miss Twain”

Canadian country star Shania Twain announced that her new album, Little Miss Twain, will be released on Friday. The record traces her life from early performances in bars at age eight through the end of her twenties, mixing songs written over the past decade with new material.

Twain says the album is deeply personal, spotlighting the influence of her mother, who died in a 1987 car crash. The title track is a tribute to her mother, who acted as her manager and driver in Twain’s youth. Guest appearances include country legend Tanya Tucker and Twain’s son, Eja, who provides backing vocals on several tracks. Twain also noted a change in her voice following a past bout with Lyme disease.

The release marks a return to the modest beginnings that shaped her career, after years of commercial success and five Grammy awards.
