Shannon Airport removes 100ml liquid limit for hand luggage
Shannon Airport has announced an update to its hand luggage security rules, removing the previous 100ml limit for liquids, aerosols, and gels. Passengers departing from the airport can now carry these items in containers of up to two litres.
The change follows further investment in high-tech security screening technology, specifically upgrades to the airport’s 3D C3 scanners. These scanners, originally installed in 2021, allow travelers to keep liquids and electronic devices, such as laptops, inside their cabin bags during the screening process.
Pat O’Brien, Chief Officer of Shannon Airport Police, Fire Service and Security, stated that the enhancement maintains high security standards while making the passenger journey easier and more flexible. Travelers are advised that different security requirements may still apply at other airports.
