Shannon Sharpe cancels Nightcap appearance at North Carolina A&T
Shannon Sharpe has announced the cancellation of a planned live broadcast of the Nightcap podcast at North Carolina A&T State University’s 100th homecoming celebration. The cancellation follows approximately 10 weeks of planning for the event, which was scheduled to take place on a Thursday afternoon in Greensboro.
Sharpe alleged that the dispute arose due to last-minute financial and administrative demands from the university. He claimed that officials requested fees for the participation of faculty, coaches, cheerleaders, and members of Greek organizations. Sharpe also specifically blamed Dr. Kecia Williams Smith, dean of the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics, for the cancellation, accusing her of imposing unreasonable restrictions and fees.
Additionally, Sharpe alleged that university representatives placed restrictions on student participation, suggesting students could face disciplinary consequences for appearing on the show without authorization. He also cited complications regarding the availability of the Blue and Gold Marching Machine. Sharpe expressed disappointment, noting that the production team had already committed to non-refundable travel and hotel expenses.
