Shannon Sharpe responded to a public callout from Leanna Lenee, the wife of Jacksonville Jaguars player Travis Hunter, following Hunter’s recent performance against the Houston Texans. During the 34-31 loss, Hunter recorded both a touchdown catch and an interception, a feat not seen in the NFL since 2002.

Lenee used Instagram to criticize Sharpe, suggesting he acknowledge Hunter as a ‘TWO WAY’ player. Sharpe addressed the comments on his ‘Nightcap’ show, maintaining his stance that while Hunter is a significant talent, playing every snap on both offense and defense is unlikely in the modern NFL.

Data from the game showed Hunter played 62 defensive snaps compared to nine offensive snaps. Sharpe argued that utilizing Hunter as a situational wide receiver while primarily playing defense is the most sustainable way to leverage his skills without risking his career longevity.
