Shaoxing announces third Overseas Culture Week for 2026

The Shaoxing Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism has announced the third edition of the ‘Shaoxing Cultural Tourism Overseas Culture Week’. Scheduled to run from May to October 2026, the event aims to promote the history and aesthetics of the Jiangnan region to a global audience through international social media platforms including Instagram, X, YouTube, and Facebook.

As part of the promotional campaign, a traveler from Europe participated in a multi-day cultural itinerary designed to showcase the city’s heritage. The journey included visits to the Zhedong Canal, the Bazi Bridge historical district, and the Mausoleum of Yu the Great. Other key sites featured in the cultural experience include the King of Yue Memorial, the hometown of Xi Shi, the Fenghuangshan archaeological site, and the Yue Opera Town.

The initiative seeks to connect international travelers with the unique ‘Becoming Chinese’ experience by highlighting local traditions such as Yue-kiln celadon porcelain and traditional Yue opera performances.
