NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe North Macedonia Army military cooperation Krivolak training center

National military representatives from the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) are conducting a visit to North Macedonia from September 20 to 23, 2026. This marks the first time this echelon of representatives has visited the country.

The visit is intended to provide the representatives with a direct understanding of the host nation's strategic and operational security and defense aspects, including its policies, military capacities, and force readiness. During a reception at the ‘Ilinden’ barracks in Skopje, the delegation was welcomed by Major General Sashko Lafchiski, the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, along with other high-ranking military officials.

Briefings included North Macedonia's involvement in international NATO missions, the ongoing modernization and equipping of its military, and the capabilities of the Krivolak training center, which is noted as a significant training resource in Southeast Europe. The representatives also participated in a tactical-technical demonstration to observe the Army's weaponry and equipment firsthand.
