Shaqueel van Persie aims to break through at Feyenoord after his father's exit

Nineteen‑year‑old striker Shaqueel van Persie said he was disappointed by his father Robin van Persie's departure as Feyenoord trainer, but accepted that "that's how it works in football" and stressed that he and his father can keep their personal and professional relationships separate.

He welcomed the appointment of Giovanni van Bronckhorst as the new coach, noting a long‑standing connection with the former player. Shaqueel expressed a desire to establish himself in the first team this season, emphasizing his fitness, willingness to play in multiple attacking positions and his goal of earning minutes in the Champions League.

He said his season will be successful if he stays fully fit, can play ninety minutes consistently and contributes regularly, regardless of whether he features on the wing or as a central striker.
