NCP (Sharad Pawar) MPs meet PM Modi to discuss Maharashtra issues

A delegation of eight Members of Parliament from the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi. Led by party executive president Supriya Sule, the meeting focused on regional development and constituency-specific grievances rather than political realignment.

Key issues raised by the MPs included infrastructure projects such as the Nashik–Pune high-speed railway, the Pune–Nashik Metro, and the expansion of the JNPT port. The delegation also addressed drought conditions in the Beed district, requesting water release from the Ujani Dam to the Manjara Dam, and discussed onion pricing for farmers and pollution in the Chandrabhaga River.

Additionally, the MPs requested that the government confer the Bharat Ratna on prominent Maharashtrian social reformers, including Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule. They also sought increased PM CARES fund quotas for medical assistance and the expedited naming of the Navi Mumbai International Airport after D. B. Patil. The delegation explicitly dismissed rumors regarding the party joining the NDA or supporting the Delimitation Bill, characterizing the meeting as strictly non-political.
