Sharad Pawar meets PM Modi, stoking NDA realignment talks

On Wednesday during the monsoon session of Parliament in New Delhi, Sharad Pawar, chief of the NCP (SP) faction, and party working president Supriya Sule met Prime Minister Narendra Modi inside the Prime Minister’s office.

The pair handed a memorandum outlining farmer distress in Maharashtra, citing irrigation shortages, drought and gaps in the implementation of welfare schemes. They said the discussion was limited to agricultural issues.

The meeting has revived speculation about a possible realignment of Pawar’s faction with the BJP‑led National Democratic Alliance, amid reports of reconciliation between the two NCP factions and recent participation by Pawar and Sule in protests over the alleged NEET‑UG paper leak.

Neither Pawar nor Sule confirmed any alliance offer; they maintain that no proposal has been received from the BJP, Congress or other NDA members.
