Sharad Pawar's NCP-SP scrubs all spokesperson posts amid revamp

The Sharad Pawar‑led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP‑SP) in Maharashtra announced on August 4 2026 that all existing spokesperson positions were cancelled. The decision, issued by state party president and former minister Shashikant Shinde via X, is part of a sweeping organisational overhaul that has also seen new appointments in the party’s student, youth and teachers’ wings.

During the interim, former MLA Vidya Chavan and senior leader Mahesh Tapase will act as authorised spokespersons. The move comes amid speculation about a possible rapprochement with the Ajit Pawar faction and follows recent internal restructuring within the party.
