Sharafadeen Alli campaign team addresses viral interview video

The campaign organization for Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Oyo State, has addressed a viral video showing a student sitting on his lap during an interview.

According to the campaign team, the student, from the Department of Banking and Finance at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, was part of a group visiting Alli’s campaign office in Mokola to invite him to a program. The organization stated that the group arrived when there was insufficient seating available, leading Alli to ask the student to sit on his lap so the interview could proceed.

The campaign team described the interaction as a “spontaneous and fatherly gesture” and rejected social media attempts to sexualize the moment, labeling such interpretations as “misleading and politically motivated.”
