Sharesub and Spliiit unite to advocate for digital subscription sharing rights

French digital co-subscription platforms Sharesub and Spliiit have joined forces to advocate for legislative changes regarding the sharing of multi-user digital subscriptions. On October 14, 2026, the companies launched a national petition titled ‘Je paie, je choisis’ (I pay, I choose) to support legislative proposal n°3101.

The initiative seeks to amend the Consumer Code to protect consumer rights and allow users to choose who they share their multi-user subscriptions with. This movement comes in response to rising costs; while French consumers consider 28 euros per month to be a reasonable budget for digital services, actual average spending has reached 54 euros.

The platforms are pushing back against unilateral changes to terms of service by major streaming and digital service providers, such as restrictions on family sharing through IP address verification. The goal is to legally protect the ability of users to share costs among roommates, separated couples, or other close contacts.
