Sharge Disk Pro 2 portable SSD praised as versatile USB‑C hub and 4K HDMI dock
Sharge’s Disk Pro 2 combines a portable SSD enclosure, a 4K HDMI 2.1 dock and a USB‑C hub in a single, retro‑styled device. The unit supports up to 8 TB of M.2 SSD storage, includes SD and micro‑SD readers, a 5 Gbps USB‑A port and a built‑in fan for cooling. A magnetic ring lets it attach to iPhones, Pixel phones or MacBooks.
Two models are offered: the “Ultra”, which runs on as little as 1.5 W of bus power, and the “Lite”, which needs 5 W but only supports HDMI 2.0 at 4K 60 Hz. Review testing showed write speeds of around 700 MB/s with a 1 TB Lexar NM710 drive. Compatibility with the Nintendo Switch 2 is limited because the console requires an 85 W or higher USB‑C PD charger to dock properly.
Earlier Disk, Disk Plus and Disk Pro models were criticized for ergonomics, power delivery and limited functionality. The Disk Pro 2 addresses those issues, positioning itself as a “Swiss Army Knife” for laptops, phones, Steam Decks and the Switch family, though power constraints remain a consideration for power‑hungry devices.
