Sharif University student expelled and banned from Iranian universities
The Central Disciplinary Council of the Student Affairs Organization under the Ministry of Science has finalized the expulsion of Reza Dalman, a student at Sharif University of Technology. The ruling includes a four-year ban from studying at any university within Iran.
The decision follows charges of “disrupting public order and the educational security of the university environment” and “insulting Islamic and national sanctities.” Specific allegations cited during the student protests in March 2026 include participation in illegal gatherings, chanting slogans, insulting other students, burning the national flag, and insulting national and religious officials.
University officials stated that the case was reviewed through both preliminary and appeal stages, during which the student was permitted to present a defense. Dalman had previously been detained by security forces in March 2026 and was released on bail approximately one month later.
