Sharjah named Guest of Honor for Bogotá International Book Fair 2027

The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) has been named the Guest of Honor for the 39th edition of the Bogotá International Book Fair (FILBo), scheduled to take place from April 20 to May 3, 2027. The announcement was made through a multilateral agreement between the Colombian Book Chamber (CCL), Corferias, and the SBA.

The selection of Sharjah, an emirate of the United Arab Emirates, highlights its global editorial influence, including its 2019 designation as a UNESCO World Book Capital. The partnership aims to strengthen translation flows between Arabic and Spanish, allowing authors from both regions to reach new markets.

The event will feature professional workshops, cultural programming, and exhibitions covering literature, gastronomy, and heritage. The official protocol ceremony was held at the San Carlos Palace in Bogotá, attended by Colombian Minister of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge Paola Holguín, alongside diplomatic representatives and officials from the Sharjah Book Authority.
