Sharjah Ruler announces pedestrian tunnel and encyclopaedia update
Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has announced the construction of an underground pedestrian tunnel at Cultural Square. The tunnel will link the Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal Mosque to the square, providing a safe route for worshippers and visitors while protecting the area's landscaping and allowing for photography without traffic disruption.
Additionally, the Ruler revealed that the second instalment of his Comprehensive Arabic Encyclopaedia will be presented at the 45th Sharjah International Book Fair, which begins on November 4. This new release brings the total number of completed volumes to 130 out of a planned 500. The encyclopaedia project is being published in four parts over four years, covering science, literature, the arts, and notable figures.
The upcoming book fair will also feature a 60-volume collection documenting Portuguese history in the Indian Ocean, spanning from Mozambique to Indonesia. This collection will be published in both Arabic and English.
