Sharjah unveils Uruk, a sustainable AI-driven city model

The Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, has inaugurated Uruk, a pioneering city model designed for the post-AI era. The project was announced during the second edition of Sharjah Next.

Uruk is the result of a strategic partnership between the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SPARK), the American University of Sharjah (AUS), and SEE Holding. The city aims to achieve self-sufficiency by utilizing solar, wind, and biogas for energy production.

Sustainability features include groundwater desalination, treated water reuse, and circular waste management. To support local food production, the city will integrate indoor and outdoor agriculture, fish, egg, and honey production, alongside private agricultural plots for residents.
