Shark Week Highlights Prime Video Film and Health Risks of Shark Meat

Prime Video released the shark‑themed thriller *The Devil’s Mouth* during Shark Week. The film stars Kathryn Newton and Lana Condor and is directed by Jeff Wadlow, who discussed the production in Thailand and the movie’s streaming debut.

Nutrition experts cautioned that shark meat, while a high‑protein food, carries significant health risks. Lisa Young of New York University warned that “its drawbacks generally outweigh its benefits,” noting high mercury and arsenic levels. Kantha Shelke of Johns Hopkins University added, “If pregnant, planning to be, breastfeeding or feeding children, please skip it.” Shark meat is consumed in Brazil, Iceland, South Korea, Japan, Spain and Portugal, but specialists recommend limiting intake, especially for vulnerable groups.
