Actress Sharmaine Ilenna Rudy Alexander, 26, and former Dewi Remaja contestant, explained that recent facial swelling is a side effect of the steroid medication she takes to treat her chronic psoriasis, not the result of any cosmetic filler procedure. She posted on Instagram, "Saya tidak berhutang penjelasan kepada sesiapa," and later wrote, "Ya Tuhan, fitnah face filler pula?" to refute online speculation.

Alexander urged the public to avoid making assumptions about others' appearances, emphasizing that health conditions and medication can cause physical changes. She noted that her psoriasis is improving and called for greater education and empathy when judging others based on looks.
