Sharmaine Meadowson convicted in $3.6M Minnesota Medicaid fraud scheme
A federal jury in St. Paul has convicted Sharmaine Meadowson, a 45-year-old woman from Lake Elmo, Minnesota, for her role in a $3.6 million Medicaid fraud scheme. Meadowson was found guilty of three counts of healthcare fraud involving the now-defunct Minnesota Medicaid Housing Stabilization Services Program.
Prosecutors stated that between 2020 and 2025, Meadowson orchestrated a scheme to bill the state program for housing services intended to assist homeless individuals. She allegedly submitted invoices for the maximum number of hours allowed for each client, even when the services were never actually provided.
United States Attorney Daniel N. Rosen noted that the defendant defrauded a program designed to help vulnerable Minnesotans. Meadowson faces a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison for each of her convictions. A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled.
