Sharon Inone receives Queen Elizabeth II Young Leaders Award

Sharon Inone, a young leader from Temotu Province, has received the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Young Leaders Award. The award was presented by the British High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands, Paul Turner.

Inone is the founder of the non-governmental organization Greenergy Pacific, which focuses on building climate-smart villages to foster sustainable community development and climate change adaptation. Her organization’s work in remote areas of Temotu includes installing water pipes to provide safe drinking water to over 3,000 people across 18 villages, as well as establishing solar-powered environmental education hubs in local schools.

The Queen Elizabeth II Commonwealth Trust (QECT) selected Inone as one of 100 exceptional changemakers from 56 Commonwealth countries for the 2026 awards. This year’s recognition commemorates what would have been the late Queen’s 100th birthday.
