Sharp announces meerkat-themed Poketomo AI companion robot

Sharp has announced the SR-C02M-H, the second model in its ‘Poketomo’ series of AI companion robots. Featuring a meerkat motif, this new robot is characterized by a blunt, ‘egoistic’ personality that evolves through interaction with the user.

The device is scheduled for release in December, with a smartphone application available for a monthly fee starting at 495 yen. A unique feature allows two Poketomo robots to converse with each other when placed in close proximity via the same app. Sharp plans to expand this series internationally, following the release of the first model in Taiwan in July 2026.

Original accessories, such as clothing and pouches, will be sold through the Cork Store. Sharp will also launch the ‘Poketomo Ambassador Program’ to incorporate user feedback into product development. The new robot will be exhibited at the Tokyo Toy Show 2026.
