Sharp and OPPO announce new smartphone releases in Japan
Sharp has announced the release of the SIM-free AQUOS wish6 (model SH-M36), scheduled for sequential availability starting September 17. The device features a 6.6-inch display with improved brightness, a 5,000mAh battery, and enhanced durability meeting MIL-STD-810H standards. Security features include a “crime prevention alert” and an “international call block” to mitigate fraud. Sharp will also offer a dedicated mobile compensation service for the device.
In conjunction with these releases, the mobile service provider mineo will launch both the Sharp AQUOS wish6 and the OPPO Reno16 5G on September 17. The OPPO Reno16 5G features a 6,700mAh battery, 80W fast charging, and AI-driven features via “AI Mind Pilot.”
Additionally, MVNO provider IIJmio is running various September 2026 campaigns, including significant discounts on handsets like the motorola razr fold and arrows Alpha2 when paired with MNP (Mobile Number Portability) transfers. IIJmio is also offering monthly fee discounts for its Giga Plan and various eSIM-related promotions.
