Sharp to release SIM-free AQUOS wish6 smartphone in Japan

Sharp is set to release the SIM-free version of its entry-level Android smartphone, the AQUOS wish6 (model SH-M36), starting September 17. The device is expected to retail for approximately 50,000 yen.

Designed for durability and simplicity, the AQUOS wish6 features IP69 water and dust resistance and has passed 18 MIL-standard tests for shock resistance. Key specifications include a 6.6-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, 4GB of memory, and 128GB of storage. It is equipped with a 50.1-megapixel main camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and supports Android 16.

The smartphone supports major Japanese carrier bands, including Docomo's 4.5GHz band, and utilizes nanoSIM and eSIM technology. It also includes security features such as crime prevention alerts and suspicious call warnings.
