Shashi Tharoor critiques Dhurandhar film violence and propaganda

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has shared mixed reactions regarding the spy thriller Dhurandhar in a video review on his official YouTube channel. While praising the film's storyline, plot twists, and performances, he criticized its graphic content and political undertones.

Tharoor described the level of violence in the film as “totally excessive and over the top,” labeling certain scenes as some of the “most disgusting scenes ever seen in Indian cinema.” He also noted the presence of “propaganda stuff” within the narrative. Regarding the film's international reception, he mentioned reports that it has been banned in Pakistan and several Gulf countries to prevent the creation of “bad blood between Indians and Pakistanis.”

Despite these criticisms, the Thiruvananthapuram MP lauded the execution of the plot, noting that the second installment was more entertaining than the first due to fewer loose ends. He specifically highlighted the performances of the villains, Akshaye Khanna and Arjun Rampal, as being “out of this world.”
