Shatta Wale calls for Tourism Ministry dissolution and claims unpaid sports debt

Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has issued sharp criticisms against two Ghanaian government ministries during a media interview on GHOne TV.

First, the musician called for the dissolution of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts. He argued that the institution has failed to provide innovative support or practical initiatives for the creative sector, despite the industry's ability to attract international attention. Shatta Wale noted that the minister, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, is his aunt, but stated that family ties should not prevent him from criticizing the ministry’s lack of impact on musicians and actors.

Second, Shatta Wale alleged that the Ministry of Youth and Sports owes him approximately GH¢5 million for promotional work and advertisements conducted to support the Black Stars during their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign. He claimed that his team also donated $100,000 to the national team's fundraising efforts. The artist expressed frustration over the lack of communication from government officials, stating that attempts to resolve the matter have been met with unresponsiveness. While expressing support for President John Dramani Mahama’s ideology, he stated he could not name any high-performing presidential appointees due to these grievances.
