Shatta Wale addresses justice and politics at ShattaFest 2026

Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, celebrated his 42nd birthday with the ShattaFest 2026 concert at the Accra Sports Stadium. The event, which featured numerous guest performers and a large turnout, included emotional moments from the artist and a public display of his polygamous lifestyle with his two wives.

During the concert, Shatta Wale made several provocative statements regarding the state of Ghana. He criticized the justice system, alleging a two-tier standard where ministers accused of corruption escape arrest while young people suspected of fraud are routinely detained. He also expressed frustration over economic hardships and youth unemployment, suggesting he might consider a presidential bid if the government fails to improve living conditions for the youth.

Reflecting on his career, the musician stated that his journey is driven by purpose and the desire to inspire others to overcome hardship, rather than competing with other artists for recognition or awards.
