Shatterproof Walk to End Addiction returns to Griffith Park
The annual Shatterproof Walk to End Addiction is scheduled to return to Griffith Park on November 7. The event aims to unite communities, celebrate recovery, and raise funds for addiction treatment, advocacy, and prevention programs.
Organizers plan to host a Community Resource Center at the site, which will provide families and individuals with access to treatment, recovery, and support resources. The event is designed to be accessible and dog-friendly, featuring personal stories from those impacted by substance use disorder.
Shatterproof CEO Pam Jenkins noted that while progress is being made, many families still struggle to access necessary care. Data cited by the organization indicates that approximately one in six people in California and Los Angeles County experienced a substance use disorder within the previous year. In Los Angeles County, fentanyl was involved in 91% of opioid-related overdose deaths.
