Shaun Murphy reaches English Open semi-finals after beating Judd Trump
Shaun Murphy secured a 6-5 victory over Judd Trump in a deciding frame to advance to the semi-finals of the English Open in Brentwood. After Murphy took a 5-4 lead, Trump responded with a 112 clearance to force the final frame, which Murphy won using tactical safety play.
Mark Williams joined the semi-final lineup after a 6-3 win against Liam Davies. Williams, who recorded his 700th career century break during the match, pulled away after being level at 2-2.
In the other quarter-final, Ding Junhui defeated Kyren Wilson 6-2 to secure his spot in the final four. Ali Carter also advanced after a dramatic comeback against Zhou Yuelong, winning 6-5 after trailing 5-3.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday, featuring Ding Junhui against Ali Carter, followed by Shaun Murphy against Mark Williams.
